When these business operations become the subject of litigation\, arbitration or investigation\, the process of gathering\, analyzing and managing these potentially massive volumes of data presents a significant challenge – which can be extremely costly\, time consuming and\, if not conducted properly\, can expose the organization to significant litigation risks. Understanding the technical aspects and strategies involved in eDiscovery can reduce a company’s risk of financial loss and damage to reputation. This presentation will: • Define eDiscovery and categorize the phases involved in eDiscovery • Discuss the technical aspects of collecting\, preserving and analyzing data forensically • Describe the importance of the chain of custody procedure • Introduce the Sedona Canada Principles\n \n Speaker's Bio:\nPamela is a forensic specialist for the Forensic Technology Services group at KPMG in Vancouver. Before joining KPMG\, Pamela was an Electronic Discovery Managing Consultant with a large consulting firm in the United States. Pamela specializes in locating\, collecting and analyzing electronic evidence on a wide array of mass storage devices. She has received specialized training in computer forensic techniques and has eight years of experience within the electronic discovery industry. She conducts a variety of analyses to reveal user activity on a variety of computer systems for investigation and litigation. Pamela is fluent in Spanish and has traveled internationally to create evidentiary images for subsequent review in the laboratory. She has assisted clients in locating vital evidence for their cases (e.g.\, class action\, employee misconduct\, discrimination\, fraud\, SEC requests and Anton Pillar). Pamela has presented the topics of eDiscovery and Computer Forensic Technology at numerous conferences\, seminars and events. In addition\, Pamela was an instructor for the Computer Forensic program at the University of Washington in Washington State. She is the Vancouver chapter director for Women in eDiscovery organization\, is a member of the EDRM (Electronic Discovery Reference Model) group and has a Master's of Business Administration specializing in Information Systems.\n\n
